SHOLA Ameobi has joined Turkish side Gaziantep BBK.
The striker has joined the second division club as a free agent after leaving Newcastle United this summer.
Ameobi had spent his entire career at Newcastle apart from a brief spell at Stoke City.
Magpies manager Alan Pardew hopes the Nigeria international – who went to this summer’s World Cup – will one day return to St James’s Park in a non-playing role.
“Shola will go down as having been a very important person for this football club,” Pardew said late last season.
“I hope, one day, that they bring him back. His professionalism, and the way he articulates himself, is something he should be very proud of.”
Gaziantep BBK play at the 17,000-capacity Kamil Ocak Stadium.
