NEWCASTLE striker Papiss Cisse is “touch and go” for tomorrow’s lunchtime game against Liverpool.
Cisse is suffering irritation in his knee following surgery in May, and has missed Newcastle’s last two games.
Boss Alan Pardew does not expect the issue to be a long-term one, but said: “Cisse, I think, is in a very similar position to what he was at Spurs.
“He’s touch and go and we’ll have to wait and see.
“He has a slight problem with his knee in that because of the recent operation, he has screws in his knee which will stay in forever.
“But there’s a little bit of irritation around them and it’s about the knee getting used to it.
“I don’t think it’s going to be a problem that’s going to go on, but he’s in that period where sometimes it flares up, sometimes it doesn’t, so we are fingers crossed that he will be OK for (tomorrow).”
Midfielder Cheik Tiote will again miss out with a calf injury.
