SHOLA Ameobi admits Newcastle United’s numbers don’t add up without Loic Remy.
The French forward will miss tomorrow’s home game against Crystal Palace through injury.
And Newcastle have failed to score in the six Premier League games the on-loan QPR striker has missed this season.
But Ameobi – who came off the bench in last weekend’s 1-0 defeat to Fulham – is adamant there are goals in the team that will take on Palace.
“Loic’s a big player for us – our stats show that,” Ameobi said. “When he’s not there, it takes goals away from the team.
“When you lose players like that, other players have to step up.
“Unfortunately, we weren’t able to do that (at Fulham).
“We created a chance just before they scored. On another day, it could have been 1-0 to us, and maybe the game’s different.”
Ameobi – who is set to leave United in the summer – last scored a league goal in December 2012. His only strike this season came in the club’s Capital One Cup win over Morecamabe.
