MIDDLESBROUGH boss Aitor Karanka wants goal power to supplement his improving defence.

Boro’s failure to hit the net cost them in last weekend’s Championship draw against Blackburn.

“We need to score, this is the problem we have now,” said Boro’s head coach, who has enjoyed eight clean sheets in 10 matches.

“In the beginning, we had mistakes. Now the whole team is defending well. We need to keep working in the same way. But we need to play the way we did against Burnley and Reading and that will be good.

“Last week against Doncaster I was very angry. I think Saturday (Blackburn) we played very well, certainly in the first half, but couldn’t score.

“I’m not happy when I don’t win, but I am ok with my team for last Saturday because they did everything I asked them to when we had our meeting.”

H Boro have signed Real Madrid keeper Tomas Mejías Osorio, 25, on loan until the end of the season, with international clearance finally approved for the deal which was done on deadline day two weeks ago.
