Murton at last had something to celebrate when they claimed their first win in 32 Wearside League games by defeating Harton and Westoe away last night.

The visitors defended stoically and then grabbeda dramatic 2-0 victory, scoring twice in the last couple of minutes.

Reece Benson delivered a curling shot which beat Harton goalkeeper Chris Smith for the opener, then, in the 90th minute, Brett Reay put the icing on the cake.

Seaham Red Star Reserves are immediately above Murton after being hit for six by leaders Redcar Athletic.

The goals flowed from Andy Jennings (2), Sam Webster (2), John Priestner and Michael Woodhouse.

Following back-to-back defeats, Sunderland West End returned to form with a comfortable 4-1 victory over Jarrow at Ford Quarry.

Stephen Graham was an early marksman for the visitors, but, by the interval, West End were in front courtesy of Barry Turton and David Keithley.

The same players were again on target during the second half and West End are now eight points behind second-top Stockton Town, having played the same number of games.

Boldon CA were well beaten, 4-0 at home by Richmond Town, whose marksmen were Mark Sims, Kalumn Holbrook (2) and Scott Ryan.
