Coxhoe’s hopes of a comeback ended nine minutes later as Jordan Cook delivered a good cross and George McCain gave Atkinson no chance with a clinical finish from 12 yards.

West End have now won three of their four games and, with 12 goals, are the second top scorers behind Redcar Athletic (15).

Ashbrooke Belford House hit Leam Rangers for six.

Yet the visitors led at the break with two strikes from Brodie Simpson, after David Paul had opening the scoring for Belford.

After the break, Ashbrooke took control and five goals rained in from Paul, who completed his hat-trick, Ian Potts, Adam Drysdale and Lee McAndrew for a resounding 6-2 victory.

An early goal from Stephen Moody, after just seven minutes, when he rounded goalkeeper Chay Adamson, proved decisive.

Horden CW claimed a point from the local derby with Hartlepool at Grayfields.

Cameron Gordon gave Pool the perfect start when he pounced on a partial clearance to fire wide of goalkeeper Michael Cockburn from fully 20 yards.

But Horden levelled by half-time. Everybody except Brian Myers missed a cross and he poked the ball home at the far post.

South Shields Reserves came on top in their derby against Harton and Westoe.

Six minutes into the game, David Palmer scored from a free-kick for Shields, but two goals in as many minutes from Carl Houshby and David Hopper turned the tables.
