CORNER Flag progressed to the semi-finals of the TWR Bifolds Challenge Cup, despite losing their second leg 5-3 away to bottom club Dynamos Last Orders.

Dynamos produced a magnificent show to record their first win of the campaign, but the 6-1 defeat in the first leg saw Corner Flag go through 9-6 on aggregate.

Nevertheless, Dynamos can celebrate their breakthrough victory, with man of the match Jason McLaren’s double leading the way.

Rob Garner, John Smith and Alex Stubbs also got on the scoresheet.

Hall Farm won the big league match of the day, defeating title rivals Aquatic Sports 3-1 to move back into second spot.

Michael Conlon struck for Aquatic, but the home side had two-goal Dean Smith and Alex Mcdonald to thank for an excellent victory.

Josh Tuckwell starred for Farm, with Paul Cromack best for Aquatic.

They are on 30 points from 13 games, an identical record to third-placed Aquatic, but have a much superior goal difference.

Hendon, without a game last weekend, are the clear title favourites, with 31 points and having two matches in hand on both of their challengers.

University of Sunderland upset fourth-placed Durham Minor Cup finalists Oddies, securing a hard-earned 2-1 away victory, with Frank Opoezie and Emmanuel Tenny grabbing the crucial goals. Stephen Evans was man of the match.

Whitburn Village enjoyed hat-tricks from Connor Sutton and sub Bailey Doyle in an 8-1 demolition of Park View.

Sub Karl Mason added a double, while Keith Peverley fired View’s consolation.

Steven Harrison shone for Park View, with Chris Usher top man for the villagers.
