QPR’s have completed the signing of 18-year-old centre-back Sam Magri from Portsmouth.
Magri broke into Portsmouth’s first team last season, and received rave reviews, reportedly attracting Premier League interest from the likes of Liverpool.
Following the south coast club’s relegation to League 1 and their resulting financial problems, it seemed inevitable that the youngster would depart this summer.
The R’s have been busy this summer buying 11 players so far in the transfer window but the signing of Magri looks to be one for the future as the club have snapped him up on a two-year deal.
Portsmouth manager Michael Appleton wished the youngster well saying: “Sam’s in the last year of his contract and has been given the opportunity to join a Premier League club.
“There have been a few young players that have gone ahead of him in the pecking order. We wish him all the best, but I didn’t see him getting near my team this season. It’s a good move for all parties.”
