Aston Villa have made a late double swoop to sign Christian Benteke and Ashley Westwood.
They have become Paul Lambert’s seventh and eighth signings as the new boss looks to add both firepower and steel to his struggling Villa side.
Belgium international striker Benteke is believed to have cost around £7million from homeland side, Genk.
The 21-year-old targetman notched 18 goals in all competitions last season, while he has also netted three times in five games so far in this campaign.
But while the onus is on the towering 6ft 5 striker to grab goals, Crewe captain Westwood has been drafted in to strengthen the Villa backline.
The 22-year-old made 120 appearances for Crewe before his £2million switch to Villa Park.
