SUNDERLAND Ladies take on Super League champions Liverpool in a friendly at Eppleton CW tomorrow (3pm).

Entry is free as both sides continue their preparations for the new league season.

The Lady Black Cats have already played one competitive game this season, beating Oxford United 5-1 in the FA Cup.

“Playing Liverpool is always going to be a severe test,” said manager Mick Mulhern.

“They are full-time and we expect them to push us on Sunday.

“However, that gives us the chance to look at a different aspect of our game, like our counter-attacking football and also our fitness levels as the girls looked tired after 75 minutes last weekend.”

Sunderland will open their FA Women’s Super League 2 campaign at local rivals Durham Women on Thursday, April 17 (New Ferens Park, 7.30pm).

It is both clubs’ first match in the new second tier of the Super League.

Mulhern’s side will host Reading in their opening home tie just three days later at Eppleton CW in Hetton (2pm).

Sunderland will face Liverpool again this season, having been drawn in the same Continental Cup group.

Also in that group are another FAWSL side Manchester City, who now include Wearsiders and England stars Steph Houghton and Jill Scott.

Everton Ladies from the top division and Doncaster Rovers Belles and Durham Women from FAWSL2 complete a tough group.

Season cards for all home fixtures for the Lady Black Cats’ campaign are available to purchase from www.fawsl.com, priced at £38 for adults, £18 for SAFC season card holders and £12 for concessions.

Tickets can also be purchased at the ground on a match-to-match basis priced at £4 for adults, £2 for SAFC season card holders and £1 for concessions.
