SUNDERLAND Ladies have strengthened their squad ahead of the Women’s Super League season by signing defender Tori Williams from Doncaster Rovers.
The 24-year-old had been training with the Lady Black Cats and featured in the club’s pre-season friendlies .
Williams played left-back for the first half of the 10-0 win over Glasgow Rangers but looks a versatile player who could operate down either flank.
Sunderland head coach Carlton Fairweather told SAFC’s website: “We are pleased to have Victoria joining the side, she is a good player with a commanding presence and brings with her valuable FA WSL1 experience.
“She can play anywhere along the back four or in midfield and she will also add some height to the team.”
Formerly with Chelsea, Williams made her name with Doncasyer and possesses experience of the top flight.
Sunderland kick off their WSL1 programme at champions Liverpool on Wednesday, March 25.
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Doncaster Rovers Belles, who have been instrumental in my career so far,” she told the club’s website.
“But I could not pass up the opportunity that Sunderland has offered me and I am looking forward to making the most of it.”
