SUNDERLAND skipper Steph Bannon is confident her side can keep causing problems for the FA Women’s Super League 1 front-runners, despite last night’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City.
Bannon could have few complaints with the Wearsiders’ display – aside from the way Nikita Parris’s goal went in.
“It was really disappointing to concede from a set piece considering we’ve been trying to work on them,” she said.
“We’ve played two games now and we’ve concedes two set pieces.
“It was an encouraging performance. It’s not the result we wanted, but the fact we’re disappointed to get beat 1-0 by Man City shows how far we’ve come.
“We had chances and they had chances and we’re now competing against the best sides.
“They’ve got many internationals in their side compared to us. We’ve got two or three and the fact that we’ve competed and we’re disappointed just sums it up for us.”
