Ryhope CW will aim to maintain their promotion push in Division Two by defeating Billingham Synthonia at home.

Chris Rookes, Martin Metcalfe, Craig Hughes and Richard Hodgson are all unable and the list will rise to six should Stephen Francis and Leon Ryan fail fitness tests.

Synners have signed Sonny Andrews from Seaham Red Star in a bid to boost an attack which has struggled to score goals. Their only injury concern is for Joe Taylor who has an ankle problem.

South Shields are riding on the crest of a wave now eight points clear of second top Chester-le-Street after defeating the Cestrians earlier in the week.

Another bumper gate is expected at Mariners Park against Thornaby, where the average crowd is 534. The next best is 145 at Heaton Stannington.

And the Mariners are also the best supported club on their travels with manager Jon King pointing out that more then 500 fans were at Chester Moor Park on Tuesday night.

“Returning to the home ground after two years at Peterlee has been a massive boost, but so too was the signing of Julio Arca who is not only immense on the field, but also helping to draw in the crowds,” enthused King, who had Arca an absentee at Chester-le-Street and Barrie Smith returns.

l King and Arca are holding a coaching camp for youngsters at Mariners Park next Wednesday and Thursday from 10am-3pm. The cost for the two days is £20.

Youngsters are asked to take a packed lunch and water. Anyone interested are asked to text with their name and address to King on 07795 024333.
