SEAHAM Red Star manager Mark Collingwood is looking for fringe players to step to the mark in tomorrow’s Ebac Northern League Second Division game at lowly Thornaby.

Red Star are fourth top, just three points outside the promotion pack, but Collingwood said: “I’m missing at least five players, with captain Chris McCabe, David Short, Josh Allan and brothers Chris and Neil Scott all out.

“Although Carl Thorpe, Craig Malley and David Palmer return, I will still be down to the bare bones”.

Chester-le-Street will be wary of visitors Darlington RA, who rifled 10 goals against Esh Winning last weekend. “Hopefully, we’ll maintain the form we have showed in recent weeks, but it won’t be easy since they’ll be on a high,” observed chairman Joe Burlison.

David Surrey is suspended, but Chester manager Colin Wake is likely to name goalkeeper Chris Rookes, who has returned from a spell at Morpeth Town.

Birtley Town host South Shields and boss Paul Bryson is unable to call upon Brad Staunch, Leon Watson, Jordan Harkess, Jordan Lee and Matthews Fisher, who arer all injured, while Levi Oman is suspended.

“We had an excellent result at Whickham last week, which I want to build on. We need to show a bit of consistency, starting against the Mariners,” said Bryson.

In contrast, Shields have a full squad to choose from. Following the transfer of Andy Hunter to Jarrow Roofing, Jak Wells will be in goal and Jordan Fraser also comes into the plans of manager Jon King.

North Shields enjoy a nine-point lead going into their potentially difficult game at Northallerton, who are on the fridge of the promotion race.

The full-strength Robins include returning quartet John Parker, Adam Scope, Kieran Ryton and 20-goal striker Dan Smart.

Second-top West Allotment Celtic face sixth-placed Norton and Stockton Ancients withou Ian Dunn, Callum McGlenn, Lawrence McKenna, Glen Ford and Chris Banon.

The Teessiders welcome back Danny O’Brien and Jack Proctor, but Matthews Bell is unavailable.

Third-top Heaton Stannington entertain Willington, with leading scorer Jonathon Wright having completed a ban but Andrew Weekes and Lee Johnson are suspended.

Willington miss Graham Lazonby and have doubts over Steven Howe (knee) and Corey Nicholson (groin).
