Hetton Social Club produced an outstanding display to secure a convincing 5-2 First Division League Cup success at Wingate Grange.

Nathan Fannan led the way with a clinical hat-trick, backed by a brace from man of the match John Brown, while Simon Hall and sub John Dale responded.

In the Second Division League Cup, two Ian Craggs goals and an effort from Dave Parry saw Murton New Hesledon edge home 3-2 against New Seaham Mallard.

Michael Taylor and Liam Watson replied.

Easington Southside hammered Seaham Phoenix 9-0 in Division One, with Matt Billyard and Darren Massam both notching hat-tricks. Neil Sergeant (2) and substitute Glen Francis also got in on the act.

Easinston Welfare also hit the goal standard, routing Trimdon Colliery Royal Albion 7-0. Tom Williams and Joe Taboun fired trebles, with Darren Major also on target.

In the Second Division, Ben Davies, Carl Stephenson and Scott French earned Haswell Oddfellows Arms a 3-3 draw against Seaham Marlborough, who had hat-trick hero Liam Gill on top form.

Joe Kennedy’s double paved the way for Easington Half Moon to defeat Peterlee Hearts 2-1, with Dave Kember replying.

Scott Jackson netted twice for Acre Social Celtic, but NSCC moved top of the table thanks to a 6-2 victory. Martin Hall, Jonathan Roberts, Thomas Alderson and Kevin McGhin were all among the goals, with Dan Gibson star man.

Hetton Fox and Hounds outgunned Peterlee Central Club 3-1, thanks to Clayton Thoms (2) and Rob Talbot, despite having Liam Branney sent off. Anthony Cairns notched for Central.

In the only Premier Division match, Shotton Comrades lost their 100 per cent record, succumbing 3-2 to much-improved Horden CW Supporters Club.

Jonathan Pearson, Scott Davidson and Jonathan Monaghan did the damage as Supporters moved joint top, with Paul Cudlip and Scott Danks replying.

In all, 13 clubs were in Durham County Sunday Cup second preliminary round action, with eight making progress.

Murton Park View enjoyed the biggest win, crushing Hartlepool Manor Mowbray 10-0, led by a brilliant hat-trick from Dave Gordon. Ryan Pinder (2), Callum Milne, Carl Thomas, Paul Milner, Anthony Cowie and sub Stephen Turner also netted.

Gary McAndrew hit a treble as Easington CIU saw off Quarrington Hill WMC 8-1, with Jonathan Birbeck (2), Rob Huntley, Luke Wallace and Adrian Sanders making it eight.

Easington HMS Victory were taken into extra time before squeezing through 3-2 against East Rainton, courtesy of Carl Price’s hat-trick, while Liam Beeston hit all three as Shotton Builders Warehouse won 3-1 at West Auckland U23s.

Dawdon Welfare Park convincingly beat South Moor Sports Club 6-1, thanks to Paul Atkinson (2), Robbie Bird, Kyle Bell, Jack Milne and sub Marc Taylor.

Peterlee Catholic Club were thumped 4-1 at Sunderland side Hendersons Butchers.

Peterlee Oaklands suffered a humiliating 14-0 defeat at Coundon Cons, while Premier outfit Easington Lane WMC lost 3-0 at Burnopfield Hobson Golf Club.

Lee Wood netted in vain for Thornley Harry’s Bar as they lost 4-1 to Pennywell Comrades, while FC Peterlee Moorcock had Dan Sennett and Michael Heckles on target in their 3-2 exit at Winlaton Highlander.
