AFTER scoring seven times in their last two EvoStik League Division One North games, Durham City are confident they can complete the double over Prescot Cables in the preliminary round of the FA Trophy, which manager Dickie Ord describes as “a massive game for the club,” writes Malcolm Pratt.
He said: “We beat them by the only goal at their place earlier in the season and I fancy our chances of coming away with another win.
“It’s crucial from a financial point of view that we get a result. A good run in the Trophy has financial benefits and we are just like any other club looking for increased revenue.
“It’s a big pitch which will suit us. They lump the ball and if we can keep it on the ground, which is our normal style, then we should be okay even though Steve Thompson cannot play because of work commitments.”
Ord reckons Thompson has been absolutely brilliant since returning from injury and will be a big miss.
The manager hasn’t yet decided who his replacement will be but is pleased that Rufus Ayre, carried off in a recent game, is ready to return.
