ENGLAND Ladies star Jill Scott checked out the football talent at Kepier School in Houghton this week.
And the Wearsider was impressed by what she saw.
“The girls from Kepier I worked with were fantastic, really able and talented footballers,” she said. “It’s great to see that girls football at Kepier is going from strength to strength.”
The former Sunderland star, who now plays with Everton in the FA Women’s Super League and starred for Team GB at the Olympics alongside fellow Wearsider Steph Houghton, worked with some of Kepier’s gifted girl footballers, and shared with them her experiences at the top of the game.
Kepier’s Head of PE, Vicky Booth – herself a former Sunderland player – said: “It was lovely to have Jill here. For our learners to see someone from the area who has achieved so much can only help inspire them to try even harder to reach the top.”
