SPENNYMOOR Town enjoyed a romp in the park against Ossett Town in yesterday’s Evo-Stik League Division One North game at the Brewery Field.
Jason Ainsley’s side ended emphatic 3-0 winners but the margin would have been considerably greater but for a magnificent man-of-the-match performance by Ossett goalkeeper Chris Backhouse.
Moors made an excellent start when Liam Henderson drove low into the bottom corner of the net with just 14 minutes on the clock.
Shane Henry doubled the lead when he beat both the wall and Backhouse with a free kick from 22 yards and on the stroke of half time Kallum Griffiths delivered an absolute screamer of a shot from 30 yards which found the net from the underside of the crossbar.
Spennymoor had dominated the opening half and there was no respite for the visitors in the second either.
Backhouse saved superbly at point-blank range from Lewis Dodds and Chris Mason, Gavin Cogdon hit the post and Lee Henderson had an effort blocked on the line.
