Washington, back in Division One of the Ebac Northern League for the first time in more than a decade, have made four signings already, with the big kick-off eight weeks away.

Manager Steven Hutchinson has added John Butler to the management team and the former Bishop Auckland and Ryhope CW striker is also expected to have a prominent playing role.

In addition, experienced Northern League players Ross Preston and Steven Stewart have also been signed, while keeper Josh Carmichael has joined the Mechanics and will compete with last season’s regular stopper Neal Atkinson for the jersey.

The club is looking for an assistant secretary to support long-time secretary Barry Spendley and anyone interested is asked to call Spendley on 07810 536964 or chairman Derek Armstrong on 07761 325797.

The Mechanics, who have announced new shirt sponsorship deals with HLA Services Limited and Coolrite Refrigeration Ltd, have lined up a busy pre-season.
