SILKSWORTH CW’s experiment of playing on Friday nights proved profitable in more ways than one.
The crowd for the local-derby against Ashbrooke Belford House was way above the average and the Colliers emerged 4-2 winners to consolidate ninth position in the Wearside League.
After Alex Kempster had given them the lead, Ryan Veitch quickly levelled.
It was Silksworth though who went in ahead at the break following a goal by Dan Martin, his first for the club.
Lee Andrews levelled on the hour mark but Silksworth finished strongly and late strikes from Willie Crew and Rob Hall sealed Ashbrooke’s fate.
