HETTON Lyons CC are gearing up for a mega showdown in the fourth round of the FA Carlsberg Sunday Cup tomorrow.
Stu Gooden’s men take on Durham Sunday League colleagues Kelloe WMC at Spennymoor’s Brewery Field (1pm), with Lyons gunning for a fourth final appearance.
Gooden said: “It’s massive for the league to have two teams in the last 16, and I’m sure it’ll be a great game.
“Kelloe are a very good side, but we’ve played 20 games this season and won 20 and things are going very well.
“Everybody in the squad is looking forward to it.
“The real work starts here, though, because it’s going to be a difficult match, then we’ve got the County Cup again soon.”
Gooden, assistant when Lyons won the national trophy in 2006, 2008 and 2010, has three definite absentees – Danny Craggs (ankle), Chris Bell (knee) and Warren Byrne (broken foot).
