Sunderland RCA secured a 4-2 friendly win at Richmond Town as they warm up for the Tyne and Wear LGV Summer Cup at Hebburn.

Colin Larkin, Stephen Callen, Joe Hughes and new signing Callum Hope all struck for Martin Swales’ men against their Wearside League hosts.

RCA head to Horden CW tomorrow to meet another SWearside League team.

Washington worked hard to secure two late goals in a 2-0 victory at Heaton Stannington.

Adam Storey bagged a magnificent four-goal haul as Silksworth CW eased to a 5-3 win at Gateshead Rutherford, with Kieron Mitchell also netting.

Durham City lost 1-0 to a fine, late Pereira strike at home to a Witton Albion development side, while Shildon won 2-1 at Northallerton thanks to Paul Connor’s lob and a Mark Doninger strike.

Consett, who host a Sunderland XI tomorrow (7.30pm), thrashed a Gateshead XI 6-0, with doubles from Dan Hawkins and Michael Mackay supported by strikes from Matty Slocombe and Calvin Smith. Five goals came before half-time.

South Shields, back on home turf at Mariners Park (formerly Filtrona) after two years at Peterlee, welcomed more than 600 fans for a 3-0 home defeat to Darlington 1883, for whom ex-Sunderland midfielder Adam Mitchell and Nathan Cartman gave the visitors a flattering margin of victory.

On Friday, Seaham Red Star won 2-1 at Hebburn Town, with Robbie Bird and Lee Kerr on target.
