Farringdon ISL face a first-week bye for their assault on the Sunderland Sunday League Premier Division title – with 11 teams competing in the top flight.
With Humbledon and Plains Farm’s all-conquering team folding after four successive titles, Farringdon – runners-up in each of the last two seasons – will expect to challenge strongly for the championship, which kicks off on Sunday, August 16.
Farringdon have to wait until August 30 for their opener, away to RCA Grangetown Florists, another side sure to figure in the title race. In between, they have a League Cup trip to Wearmouth CW Juniors.
Newly-promoted Hendersons Butchers and Southwick are both in action on opening day, away to Ryhope Foresters and at home to RCA Grangetown Florists respectively.
