DURHAM City’s mini-revival was ended by Evo-Stik League Division One North pace-setters AFC Fylde at New Ferens Park.
Dickie Ord’s side went into the game on the back of three consecutive victories.
However, despite scoring first, City went down by the odd goal in three.
The first chance fell to the unmarked James McCarthy and he fired wide.
David Dowson then sent Stephen Thompson in on goal and his shot found the net via a post.
However, City’s joy only lasted a couple of minutes.
Paul Jarvis whipped in a left-wing cross and Michael Barnes made no mistake at the back post.
Fylde goalkeeper Zac Jones denied Elliott Cutts and at the other end, Barnes crashed the ball against the woodwork as the home side rode their luck.
Jarvis, influential in the visiting attack, fired wide and only a crucial tackle prevented Andrew Stephenson from getting in a shot.
However, just before the interval Fylde went ahead when Joe Booth struck from close range.
Jones got down well to smother a Dowson shot in the second half and an effort from Ross Wilkinson was eventually saved by Jones in a goalmouth scramble.
City pressed until the final whistle, but were thwarted by Fylde’s well-organised back four.
