DURHAM City sensationally parted company with manager Adam Furness and assistant Ian Skinner following Saturday’s game against Bedlington Terriers, which the Citizens won 6-1 to consolidate seventh place in the Ebac Northern League First Division.

Operations manager Lawrence Appleby said that the decision had nothing to do with results or the pair’s ability but that owner Olivier Bernard, the former Newcastle United player, had a vision for the future of the club.

“Contrary to rumour, we do not have anyone lined-up and are inviting applications which should be made by April 2 to ebacdurhamcityafc@gmail.com,” said Appleby.
