ASHBROOKE Belford House were in scoring mode on the opening day of the Wearside League campaign and – in summer signing Adam Drysdale – they had the man-of-the-match.
The outstanding debutant – who starred for Durham Alliance League champions Hylton CW last season – struck four times in the space of 20 minutes after Callum Sweeney had given Hartlepool the lead with a superb 35-yard free-kick.
Before the interval, Shaun Petch made it 5-1 and Callum O’Hara replied for the visitors. After seven goals were scored in the opening 45 minutes, neither side managed one in the second period, but that might have been down to the fact that talisman Drysdale was forced off in the 50th minute.
Belford will hope to make it two wins out of two when Horden CW visit on Wednesday.
