Boldon Ladies are celebrating being crowned league champions of the DCFA Women’s League 1.
In doing so, Boldon have secured promotion to the North East Regional Women’s Football League (NERWFL).
Although dogged with injuries to many players, they have completed the season with a 100 per cent win record, playing 12 matches and winning 12.
With this and the excellent FA Cup run they had mid-season, progressing to Round 3 Qualifying stages (beating teams from leagues above), the team has gone from strength to strength.
Boldon will be competing in the North East Regional Women’s Football League in season 2014/15 and are hopeful they can compete successfully with the players at the club.
Boldon’s team consists of: Kirstie McDonald (goalkeeper), Louise Winter, Dee Adamson, Claire Elliott, Nicole O’Hara, Jayd Christie, Elise Etchells, Kate Wilkins, Whitney Burke, Emily Porter, Kayley Nichols, Bethany Diamond, Freya Wilson, Jocelyn Raine, Tori Sheriff, Jade Murray, Kay Mills, Alex Ross, Lizzie Thompson-Clarke, Julie Ann Waitman, Melissa Simpson, Mel Wilson, Lisa Deakin, Ally Leach (captain).
The team, along with the younger Boldon Girls teams, are self-funded, but they are now looking for sponsorship from local businesses.
There is also an aim to encourage younger girls to work their way up through the younger teams and to finally be a part of the Womens Team.
