DURHAM City expect their biggest gate in years when they take on Evo Stick League Division One leaders Chester at the Esh Group Stadium tomorrow, writes Malcolm Pratt.
The visitors are expecting 400 fans to travel together with the entire playing squad and coaching staff.
“They are the best team in the league and really ambitious to get back into the football league.
“Judging by the arrangements they have made they are clearly taking us seriously” said joint manager Lee Collings.
Fullbacks Mark Batey, Gareth Ayers and strikers Stephen Thompson and Jack Pounder look to return.
All four players missed the midweek game at Clitheroe when Collings thought that the 4-1 scoreline flattered the home side.
He added: “Considering the side we put out, I thought we did well. Obviously, I will have to take the performance into account when Dickie Ord and I pick the side but with four players back there are going to be some disappointed faces.”
The managerial pair are confident their side will give Chester a good game. “The lads are absolutely buzzing. They seem to play well when there is a big crowd and there’s going to be a great atmosphere tomorrow. Let’s hope we can rise to the occasion” enthused Collings.
