A SUPERB performance by Amar Purewal swept Durham City to a 4-0 victory and confirmed the relegation of Leigh Genesis from the Evo Stik League Division One North on Saturday.
Durham went ahead as Josh Home-Jackson found David Dowson, who rounded goalkeeper Andy Farrimond before driving the ball into an empty net.
On the stroke of half-time, Amar Purewal robbed a defender and calmly side-footed the ball into the net.
Andrew Stephenson had replaced Tommy English and within a minute he pierced the home defence for Amar Purewal to slot home.
Elliott Cutts missed a good chance but City were back again and after Dowson rattled a post, Purewal completed his hat-trick, again leaving the goalkeeper stranded.
Although Leigh have struggled throughout the season, this was another encouraging performance by Durham and joint managers Lee Collings and Dickie Ord are confident that if the squad stay together, they could be challenging for promotion next season.
Durham City: J Winter, Harbord, Ayre, E Graham, Wilkinson, Arjun Purewal, Jackson (Thompson), Cutts (Ayers), Dowson, Amar Purewal, English (Stephenson).
