HARTLEPOOL United’s pre-season schedule is taking shape with Colin Cooper’s side set to play Premier League outfit Sunderland in a friendly.

Gus Poyet’s men will visit The Vic on Wednesday, July 23 (7.30pm kick-off) as further plans for the warm-up ahead of the 2014-15 campaign fall in to place.

The friendly fixture will be the third time in four years Pools have welcomed the Black Cats to the Vic for a pre-season match, the last time was in July 2012 when Steve Howard scored the only goal in a 1-0 win.

Prior to that, Sunderland also formed the opposition for Ritchie Humphreys’ Testimonial game back in the summer of 2011 when the visitors ran out 3-1 victors.

Prices for the friendly will be £10 for adults and £5 for concessions, with tickets going on sale in due course.

It is the fourth pre-season match confirmed by Pools so far, with Colin Cooper’s squad also taking on Middlesbrough, Bradford Park Avenue and Whitby Town.
