HARTLEPOOL United boss Colin Cooper looks set to offer right-back Michael Duckworth a shot at league football, writes CRAIG HOPE.
The Bradford Park Avenue defender has been on trial with Pools for three weeks, appearing for the senior side in that time.
And the 20-year-old has impressed in both his performance and desire to win a professional contract at Victoria Park.
“I would like to think we can do something for Michael,” Cooper said.
“This time last week I couldn’t and I’ve been honest with him about things. But I think Michael is a good footballer who deserves his chance in league football.”
Cooper added: “At the moment, he’s paying his own way to come and train every day.
“He went to watch York City at the weekend as well, knowing we’ve got them coming up and hoping he might be in the club.
“But the fact he’s paying his own way and watching football when he’s not here shows he is someone who really wants his chance.”
