PAUL Murray has made non-league goal ace Scottt Fenwick his third signing as Hartlepool United boss.
The 24-year-old, a star with Dunston UTS in the Ebac Northern League, has been on trial at Pools this week, with Murray already extolling his virtues in an interview in today’s paper.
And the Geordie had announced his arrival at the League Two side in style by scoring twice against hometown club Gateshead in the reserve team’s 2-1 success in midweek.
Fenwick had scored 15 times for Dunston already this season and has enjoyed spells at the academies of the North-East’s big three, Newcastle, Sunderland and Boro.
He had briefly been a professional in Scotland with Gretna, only for the border club to go bankrupt, with Fenwick returning to the North-East, where he split his week between full-time work and non-league football.
After a glut of FA Cup goals with Dunston, Fenwick is cup-tied for Pools v East Thurrock tomorrow.
But he is likely to feature in the squad for next weekend’s League Two trip to Southend United.
