Hartlepool United facing James Poole absence

JAMES Poole is facing up to another spell on the sidelines – while loanee Samuel Adjei has played his last game for Hartlepool United, writes CRAIG HOPE.

With Luke James (back) and Gary Liddle (shin) both likely to be missing for Saturday’s trip to Walsall, Pools boss Neale Cooper could bring in an emergency loan signing.

Poole, only just back from a two-month hamstring absence, suffered the fresh blow during last night’s 1-0 League One defeat at Huddersfield as a thigh problem forced him off.

Winger Adjei, on loan from Newcastle, is understood to be out for up to eight weeks after picking up a hamstring strain at the weekend, meaning that his Victoria Park stay is over.

All of that, coupled with last night’s unjust outcome at fourth-top Huddersfield, left Cooper in frustrated mood.

“James has pulled a muscle in his thigh, which is a right blow to us,” sounded the Scot.

Pools weathered an early storm thanks to a pair of blinding saves from Scott Flinders before proceeding to boss the majority of the game.

But substitute Alan Lee stole an undeserved winner for the hosts 15 minutes from time.

“I feel frustration more than anything else,” said Cooper.

“We didn’t get what we deserved, but credit to the lads because they’ve performed well, yet again.”
