HARTLEPOOL United will continue to run the rule over Bradford Park Avenue defender Michael Duckworth.
The 20-year-old played 45 minutes of last night’s 2-0 win at Whitby Town and will remain with the squad over the coming week.
Duckworth was recommended to Pools boss Colin Cooper by a team-mate of his at Harrogate Veterans.
And he says the right-back can be pleased with his performance at the Turnbull Ground.
“He did well,” said Cooper when asked for his thoughts on the trialist’s display.
“I still turn out every now and again for Harrogate Veterans and his manager at Bradford Park Avenue, John Deacey, recommended him to me.
“He said that Michael is too good for their level at Conference North.
“I said that I’d gladly have a look and, considering he’s only had two days’ training and no game all summer, I don’t think he can complain with how he did.
“All I’ve said is that we’ll have a look for 45 minutes and see where he fits into the plans over the next three games.
“After that we’ll give him a decision one way or the other.”
Duckworth could now be involved when Pools face at Middlesbrough at Victoria Park on Saturday afternoon.
