HARTLEPOOL United have been drawn at home to Sheffield United in the second round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

It will be the second year in a row that Pools have faced the Blades in the competition, a goal from James Poole secured the win for Pools at Bramall Lane last season.

The Blades are managed by Nigel Clough, the son of former Pools and Nottingham Forest manager Brian Clough.

The second round draw , which was regionalised, was made live on the popular Soccer AM programme on Sky Sports.

Ties will be played in the week commencing October 6th.

Last season Colin Cooper’s side reached the area quarter finals after seeing off Bradford City and Sheffield United before falling to Rotherham United at The Vic.

Pools had received a bye to the second round.
