FORMER Sunderland midfielder Claudio Reyna has been appointed the director of football at new MLS outfit New York City FC.
Manchester City this week announced a partnership with NYC FC, who will enter the MLS from the 2015 campaign.
And as part of that franchise, ex-City player Reyna has taken on a managerial role with the club.
The American, who spent two years at the Stadium of Light prior to joining City, will be responsible for building the new team’s squad and management structure.
Reyna said: “Having had the privilege of playing both for my country here in the US and for Manchester City, I could not have hoped for a more tailor-made opportunity.”
