HULL City have completed the club-record signing of Abel Hernandez from Palermo for a fee thought to be worth around £9.5m.
The forward has signed a three-year deal at the KC Stadium, with the option for a further year.
The 24-year-old represented Uruguay at this summer’s World Cup, and is set to be the replacement for Shane Long at Hull after he joined Southampton earlier this summer.
Hull manager Steve Bruce said: “Abel is a fantastic signing and highlights just how far the club has come in such a short space of time.
“He is an exciting talent and like myself, I’m sure the supporters can’t wait to see him in action.”
Newcastle had been linked with a move for Hernandez this summer, and he was reported to have said earlier this year: “I dream of Newcastle, Real or Atletico for the future.”
