THIS week saw the first three of the season’s club finals completed at Crowtree.

In the Senior Triples final, Alfie Ferguson, Hendy Shields and Billy Ferry took on Pat Collins, George Brown and Peter Brickle.

The early exchanges went to the Brickle trio as a third-end count of five saw Brickle race into a 7-0 lead.

With the score at 8-1 after six ends, Ferry started a charge and within the space of three ends led 9-8. With the score at 9-9, Ferry hit another purple patch and only dropped another single while collecting eight shots to seal a 17-10 win.

In the men’s triples final, Neil Ridley, Michael Laydon and Kevin Wall faced David Morgan, David Bolt and Gary Smith.

The early part of the game was dominated by the Smith triple, a third end count of five contributing to a 14-3 lead after seven ends. The next four ends were all singles as Smith still led 15-6.

The 12th end saw a glimmer of hope for Wall as a count of five got the score back to 15-11 to Smith, but with time running out Wall attempted to lift two bowls out only to kill the end and it finished 15-11.

In the Senior Two Bowl Singles final, Joe Flett faced Ray Robinson. The early part of the game was dominated by Flett as he raced into a 15-3 lead.

Robinson responded and got back to 15-9 but in the end paid the price for the slow start as Flett secured his first senior two-bowl title 21-12.
