Farringdon rise to the occasion in the Westoe Removals Sunderland Snooker League

FARRINGDON A have moved to the top of Group One in the Westoe Removals Sunderland Snooker League, bouyed by results going their favour.

Farringdon won 4-0 against Steels B. Ian Stewart led the wayand a 38 break by Adam Smith was not enough to overcome the surprise packet Ian Douglas, who won 70-57.

Andrew Grant beat Chris Cowie in the third frame.

Pennywell Comrades B and Woodside B drew 2-2, with Dave Manning taking the first before Turner levelled.

Mark Anderson restored the lead, with Foreman and Milner coming good to claim the pairs.

The Duck and Green Baize drew 2-2 with Dean Wilson taking the first frame.

Anth Kemp beat Craig Kane to level but saw his team go behind again as Jeff Burn took the third.

Darren Dowell and Graham Towle beat Kane and Burn.

Group Two is still wide open with only two points covering the top four teams.

Washington won 3-1 against Pennywell Comrades B. Mark Well of Washington, Jason Dewer and Graham Rutland to put them into a 3-0 lead.

Bob Klein and Dean Taylor rescued a point in the pairs for Pennywell.

Steels A lost to Cheema C, with Ken Cunningham, Mark Fox and Paul Yuk taking the singles. Ray Charlton and Michael Says took the pairs.

An interesting game was seen between Murton Officials and Farringdon. Paul Grant needed a snooker on the last two colours but gifted Robin Midson the frame.

Jimmy Ashcroft started well before Colin Wrathmall levelled.

A recovery by Dave Robinson saw him claim the third frame 61-30.

Paul Grant had a 32 break for Farringdon before Eddie Williamson scored all Murton’s points to force a draw.

Hylton A had a 4-0 win against Biddick B in Group Three. Norman Leslie, Bob Boyce and Ken Bradley won their frames. Leslie and Harrop took the pairs.

A surprising 4-0 win for Seaham Knack saw them move up the table.

Group Four saw Mill View A beat Pennywell C 3-1 to go top of the table.

Ray James of the Victory, beat Ken Sands of Mill View B.

The other three frames went to the away team in a 3-1 result with Sands gaining revenge in the pairs.
