Derby excites £13m-man Gyan
Sunderland new boy Asamoah Gyan is already looking forward to the Tyne-Wear derby
Gyan arrived on the day Sunderland had their first derby of the season against Newcastle – the Black Cats losing the reserves' version 3-1 at the Stadium of Light last night.
But their big signing is already looking forward to taking part in the real thing.
He said: "When I first heard Sunderland were chasing me, I started to follow them.
"I know Sunderland well and I know the fans are incredible – they keep cheering you for 90 minutes and that is very important, it give the players confidence to play their maximum.
"The derby with Newcastle will be something incredible. We will play bigger clubs, but to play Newcastle is the biggest."
