DAVID Bolt’s dream of lifting the World Indoor Championship were dashed after an opening round defeat at the hands of one of the pre-tournament favourites, Greg Harlow.
The Sunderland postman got off to a fine start in the big-money event in Great Yarmouth, collecting three consecutive singles to lead 3-0.
Harlow responded on the fourth end with a treble to level the score at 3-3 and then went into a 5-3 lead after the fifth end.
However any nerves Bolt might have had never showed as he turned the first set around with a run of 1, 2 and 2 to lead 8-5 going into the final end of the first set.
With Bolt holding shot on the final end, Harlow had a chance to steal the set but missed Bolt’s only bowl in the head to only score a single, handing the first set to Bolt 8-6.
