THE final round of Co-operative Funeralcare T20 group matches is scheduled to be played tomorrow night with a number of games falling into the “do or die” bracket as sides get their final chance to qualify for next week’s quarter-finals.
In Group B, there is nothing other than pride at stake at Lilywhite Terrace as the qualifiers are already known, with both Hetton Lyons and South Shields already through, however that should not stop a bumper crowd turning up to see Lyons host neighbours South Hetton.
Group A provides the most fascinating set of fixtures as four teams are still in with a shout of qualifying, although it would take an unusual combination of results for Willington not to go through.
That leaves Chester-le-Street, Brandon and Boldon to squabble over the second spot and, with Boldon entertaining the Cestrians, it should be a lively night at Sunderland Road.
In Group C, South North are already through, with the second spot going to the winner of the Benwell Hill-Stockton clash, but in Group D it is all to play for at Ashbrooke where Sacriston are Sunderland’s visitors. The winners of that head to head will qualify alongside Durham Academy.
