WHITBURN and Hylton both enjoyed excellent victories in the Benfield DCB U15 Junior League’s North East Division.
Marsden reached 100-6, with Sneller unbeaten on 38, but Luke Smith’s undefeated 51 helped Whitburn home by five wickets on 102-5.
Jamie Graham-Smith’s 54 not out guided Gateshead Fell to 108-5, but Hylton impressively responded to score an eight-wicket success, with Charlton’s brilliant, unbeaten half-century stealing the show as they finished on 112-2.
Bill Quay, meanwhile, won the North East Division Cup final, pipping South Shields by one run. Rayner’s 50 steered Quay to 120-7, with Oliver Appleby grabbing 3-12. Edward Hurst fired a gallant 52 for Shields, but they fell agonisingly short on 119-9.
Scott Steel’s unbeaten 51, and 40 from William Moreland, earned Durham City (109-2) an eight-wicket Central Division victory over Chester-le-Street, who posted 106-1, with Joe Riley unbeaten on 50.
In the South East Division, Horden squeezed home by 14 runs against Murton in a match dominated by the bowlers. Horden were restricted to 88-7 as Hughes (3-11) and Thompson (3-17) impressed. In reply, Murton found it just as difficult, ending on 74-7, with Nathan Foster bagging 3-9.
