EPPLETON were crowned Durham Cricket Board U11 champions after a 99-run final success against Ryhope.
The Church Road lads batted first and posted an impressive score of 144-2, with Kristian Jefferson’s unbeaten 31 backed by Josh Hutchinson (23) and Hollie Forsyth (17). Matthew Meek picked up a wicket, while Savoy Jacob forced a run-out.
Ryhope struggled to 45 all out in their reply, Joe Defty the only batsman to reach double figures, while Eppleton bowler Jake Pratt bagged a hat-trick, finishing off with 3-4, while Edward Brown bagged 3-0, while Layla Tipton and Kristian Jefferson both struck twice.
H Durham Cricket Board Under-11s overcame the Under-12s by five wickets at Lintz in a 40-over friendly, making amends for two defeats the previous day at Annfield Plain.
The U12s posted 134-4, with Durham City’s Robbie Fyfe hit an unbeaten 50 from 60 balls, backed by Makepiece (33no) and Giacomelli (30). Isaac Unsworth picked up 2-17, with Joe Defty and Daniel Pratt each striking.
Mitch Killeen and Pratt each hit 37 as the U11s survived a bad start.
