DURHAM ace Scott Borthwick was one of the stars of the show as England beat a Hyderabad CA XI by 253 runs yesterday.
The leg spinner, who hopes to fire his way into the reckoning for this Friday’s one-day international against India, did his chances no harm with a five-wicket haul.
The Sunderland-born star returned 5-31, and was ably supported by Stuart Meaker, who claimed 3-30 as the hosts could muster just 114 all out. That was well short of England’s 367-4 in a much-improved display.
Skipper Alastair Cook, Craig Kieswetter and Jonathan Trott also passed the half century mark, but fell short of getting the tons.
