BOLDON’S surprisingly modest start to the Warmseal Durham Senior League season continued when they beat the weather, but then lost to Eppleton on Saturday.
The hosts just never got going in an innings where wickets fell regularly as Joe Dodd (3-30), David Wilkinson (3-27) and Craig Scurr (3-29) consistently caused problems.
An opening 24 from Nick Sampson-Barnes, and a battling 37 later from Grant Forster, were the only efforts of note as Boldon struggled to 120 all out in 46.2 overs.
Eppleton did not have things all their own way in the run chase, once Graham Fox removed openers Kyle Davis (17) and Dave Kennedy (38). Though Fox going on to claim 4-21 in 12 overs, Neil Young (28no) remained calm and eased his team to a four-wicket win in the 33rd over.
They started on time at Horden, played for 160 minutes, but then went off, never to return despite King Canute being next in. Felling reached 119-7 in 42.3 overs with Chris Goudie turning in a gritty display, his 33 anchoring the visitors’ efforts. Masood Mirza was in dominating mood for Horden, his 15-over spell producing 4-26.
The other four games failed to get the go-ahead.
H Eppleton yesterday progressed in the Justsport Trophy, with Kyle Davis’s 77 seeing them home by five wickets after Stuart Walker (33) top-scored in Whitburn’s 141-7.
