Sunderland secured a notable eight-wicket win over Eppleton in the Durham Cricket Board Under-15s Central Division.

Josh Hutchinson (18), Liam Smiles (17) and Jake Pratt (14) were the top runmakers for Eppleton, who made 70-4 in 20 overs, with Sam Brigham, Joseph Stuart, Robbie Potts and Jamie Hair all striking.

Sunderland got off to a bad start when Sam Brigham (4) and Alex McCay (8) were bowled by Pratt in the second over, but Joseph Stuart (23) and Luke Laws (25) led Sunderland home (71-2) in 12 overs.

Seaham Harbour enjoyed an eight-wicket victory over Castle Eden in the South East Division.

Castle Eden scored 78-5, with Bailey Wanless and Lewis Simpson both making 25. Callum Hutchinson (2-5) struck for Harbour, who then eased home in 15.2 overs, with Callum Hutchinson’s unbeaten 48 stealing the show. Wanless and Isaac Unsworth picked up two wickets apiece.

Whitburn secured a dramatic one-run Under-18s North East Division win after bowling Whiteleas out for 58 as Andrew Durham and Amy Hearn both struck twice.

Earlier, William Johnson’s unbeaten 29 led Whitburn to 59-6, though Sid Corner junior tested them with 4-20.

Eppleton outgunned Sunderland by nine wickets in the Central Division.

The Ashbrooke side managed 98-5, Cameron Hindmarsh top-scoring with 40 off 28 balls, with four fours and two sixes. Callum Woodley (19) and Jamie Hair (11) helped out, with Braydn Davis taking 2-16.

Eppleton won in 12.3 overs, Davis hitting an unbeaten 50 from 36 balls, with two fours and three sixes, while Victor Spencer added 39 not out.

Openers Adam Dawson (71) and Cameron Grimwood (43) set Hetton Lyons up for a daunting 190-3, helped by Josh Coughlin’s 47. Washington struggled to 98-6 in reply, Gabriel Hebron firing 36no.

Niall Cutter added 17 after taking 2-31. Lyons’ Ross Salkeld grabbed 2-36.

In the South East Division, Joseph Spalding’s unbeaten 54 led Peterlee to 106-2, Joshua Nesbitt adding 27no. Seaham Harbour fell short on 98-8, despite 32 from Elliott Leslie.Oliver Wheatman (19) and Dylan Bacon (18) offered the best support. Ellis Dunn took 3-8.

Castle Eden held on for a one-run win, bowling South Hetton for 114 after making 115-7. Wilson hit 77 for South Hetton.

Matthew Kirtley posted a brilliant 72 as Ryhope made 145-5 against Horden, Nathan Bennett adding 28. Evan Roberts bagged two wickets. Horden were then dismissed for 89 as Tomlin (4-14) and Sam Groark (3-9) led the way.
