Junior cricket: Lachlan and Lewis spark Durham Under-15s' friendly success

Durham Cricket Board Under-15s enjoyed a 75-run friendly victory over Durham School.

Lachlan Marron (55, with eight fours) and Lewis Williams (53, with eight fours and a six) led the way for Durham after being inserted, with both batsman retiring unbeaten.

Ollie Barrett added an unbeaten 28 from 39 balls, and Miles Birbeck added 10, to take Durham to 188-5 from 34 overs before declaring at lunch.

Durham City’s Tom Reynolds bagged 3-20 for the School, while Hibbets and Leo Giacomelli struck once.

Durham School started brightly in their reply, scoring 42 before the first wicket fell when Butler was dismissed for 18.

Robbie Fife top-scored with 26, while Tom Reynolds made 20, but a run of four wickets for no runs saw Durham School slump to 84-6.

Barrett was the pick of the bowlers for Durham, picking up five wickets for just 21 runs in six overs. Isaac Unsworth grabbed 2-2, with Birbeck also striking.

Durham Under-17s went down by six wickets in their friendly against York’s Queen Ethelburgas College.

Sol Bell (27), Nathan Hall (25) and Adam Khan (16) were the only Durham batters to reach double figures as they struggled to 107-8 in 20 overs, with three run-outs hampering their efforts.

In reply, Queen Ethelburgas College won in the 18th over, with six wickets in hand, despite Hall taking 3-13 and Josh Clifford 1-25. Hendon (44) and Kelly (26) steered the York side home.
