CHESTER-le-Street outgunned Peterlee to lift the Benfield Motors DCB Under-18 Trophy.
Jonathan Hall’s outstanding, unbeaten 67 led the way as the Ropery Lane youngsters posted an imposing 169-4 in the final against Peterlee, with Connor Pattison adding a half-century. Shaun Taylor was the pick of the Newtowners’ bowlers, grabbing 3-25.
In reply, Liam Chaytor stroked a magnificent 52, but Peterlee were all out for 107, Pattison pouncing for 3-5, to leave Chester winners by 62 runs.
H Seaham Harbour progressed in the Benfield U15 League play-offs with a seven-wicket second-round victory over Castle Eden.
Thomas Gorham hit a tremendous, undefeated 51, but Castle Eden could only make 97-4 as James Lamb’s haul of 3-8 inspired Harbour.
The Seaham lads then eased home on 99-4, with Caleb Lowerson-Marshall top-scoring on 47.
Eppleton secured a nine-wicket U15s Cup win over Gateshead Fell, who struggled to score 70, with skipper Preet Bhamra (17) and Winthrop (24) the only batters to reach double figures. Liam Smiles bowled well to grab four wickets for only 15 runs, while Jordan McGill took 2-13 and Under-11 player Jake Pratt bagged two wickets for no runs in his only over.
Charlie Ord hit 31, including five fours and a six, as the Church Road lads knocked off the target in 10.3 overs, helped by Jordan McGill (20).
