DURHAM Cricket Board Under-15s beat Cumbria by 15 runs at Middleton-in-Teesdale.
The hosts won the toss and chose to bat, with Tom Hewison and Josh O’Brien opening.
The first wicket fell on 14, with Hewison going for only seven runs. Ross Greenwell came in and top-scored on 84 from 110 balls before before being caught by Smith, backed by 50 from O’Brien. Durham were all out for 233 in 49.4 overs, with James McGown picking up 3-17.
In Cumbria’s reply, Durham got off to good start, bagging two early wickets, but Grunshaw’s 71 from 105 balls steadied the ship.
Cumbria, though, fell short on 218-9 despite the game looking very close in the last over when McGown hit a six and a wide and a no ball were bowled.
Willington bowler Jake Louth bowled superbly, securing figures of 5-43, while Haida Shafiq took 2-27. Jamie Dass and Dominic Scott also both struck for Durham.
